Introduction
We are seeking a Process Systems Engineer to join a multidisciplinary, entrepreneurial team to contribute to the ongoing development and innovation of OLI’s unique computational modeling platform with a specific focus on multiphase, multicomponent electrolyte systems.

Primary Responsibilities and Duties
  • Maintenance and continued enhancement of our existing codebase
  • Development of our next generation process modeling and optimization tools
  • Development and maintenance of numerical algorithms and solution techniques for chemical and phase equilibrium and kinetics of multiphase, multicomponent systems, including statistical, machine learning, and optimization-based approaches for data regression
Qualifications
A successful candidate must possess extensive knowledge of the fundamental principles, theories, practices, and established methodology of engineering, chemistry, physics, mathematics, and computational science. An advanced degree (M.S. or Ph.D.) in chemical engineering with a focus on process systems engineering is required.
The candidate must have specialized experience formulating and solving complex nonlinear systems of equations as well as technical experience in one or more of the following areas:
  • Process modeling and optimization (both dynamic and steady-state)
  • Development of novel mathematical optimization algorithms and solution techniques
  • Development of process modeling tools and software
The candidate must have specialized experience developing and solving rigorous steady-state and dynamic process models, including developing and incorporating submodels for physical properties, thermodynamics and kinetics, utilizing at least one of the following classes of modeling platforms:
  • Modern programming languages, such as Python, Fortran 90, C++, etc.
  • Open-source modeling packages such as IDAES, PrOMMiS, Water-TAP, PyOMO, etc.
  • Commercial process simulation tools such as OLI Flowsheet, gPROMS, Aspen Custom Modeler, Unisim, etc.
The ideal candidate will also demonstrate technical experience in one or more of the following areas:
  • Ability to write clear well documented code and work effectively with legacy code
  • Experience with unit testing, integration testing and delivering well-tested code
  • Knowledge of advanced thermodynamic models, phase equilibria, and electrolyte properties
  • Development and integration of AI/ML to enhance process modeling and optimization.
Preferred location is Parsippany, NJ.
